Good Afternoon,
I wanted to update you on what’s happening in the Village at this time. We now have over 20 cases of COVID-19 in the community, according to the Lake County Health Department. These are residents, not people from other communities in Condell Hospital. Lake County is second only to Cook County in the number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois. Please follow the Stay at Home Order rules and if you must go out for essential services please remember social distancing. If you live alone or are in need of services due to a disability, or other reason please call 211 for assistance.
We will be having a Village Board meeting on April 14th and have a scheduled Public Hearing on the 2020-2021 Village Budget. Since the meeting will be held remotely I would like to ask anyone who would like to give input on the Village budget to email comments to vol@libertyville.com. All comments will be read into the record for the meeting. The Village budget is available online on the Village of Libertyville website at www.libertyville.com. We will hold another public hearing at an open meeting once we are able to meet in public again.
This Friday is the first Friday of the month and the time many residents typically get together for Mainstreet’s First Friday in the downtown. Mainstreet is sponsoring a virtual First Friday and information can be obtained at Mainstreet’s website. Since this is a virtual First Friday I encourage residents to consider supporting all of our businesses, not just downtown businesses, this Friday evening.
Thanks to all our residents during this difficult time. Many residents have contacted me with offers to help in many different ways. I am proud of our community and the way we have responded during this crisis. It will be over, maybe in a couple weeks, maybe in a couple months, but when it does, we will come together as a community more than ever before. Have a good day and stay safe, stay at home and stay healthy.
Thank you.
Terry L. Weppler
Village President
