Cook Park Tree Replacement

After 15 years of serving the Village, it’s time to “branch out” and replace the Spruce tree in Cook Park. As the tree has aged, its branches have begun to spread apart and it’s become more vulnerable to natural diseases.

Thanks to a generous donation, a new Spruce tree will soon call Cook Park home! The old tree will be removed on Monday, August 22nd and the new tree will be planted in the days that follow.

Businesses Wanted for Fall Listening Sessions

The Village is hosting a fall series of virtual small group listening sessions for Libertyville businesses on Tuesday, September 13th. The goal of the sessions is to inform the Village about business experiences, challenges, and successes.

Participation in the closed meetings is voluntary. Participant names and other identifying information will not be published. For details or to sign up for the final listening session, click here.

Save the Date: Performance Art in the Park

The Libertyville Arts Commission is excited to announce a new event, "Performance Art in the Park." The event will take place from 3 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, September 10th in Cook Park and will feature multiple performances, family-friendly art activities, and interactive exhibits. More information to come!

2022 Community Bike Ride

Join the Libertyville Bicycle Advisory Commission for its annual Community Bike Ride! This fun, family-friendly bike ride has the option of a 2.5 mile loop or a 5 mile loop with smart cycling activities for kids of all ages. Meet the Libertyville Police Department Bike Unit and School Resource Officer, win giveaways, and meet your neighbors in the great outdoors!

IDOT Milwaukee Ave. Resurfacing

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) will begin pavement resurfacing of Milwaukee Ave. on August 29th. The project will cover the road between Church St. and Adler Park and should be completed by early November. The work also includes sidewalk accessibility upgrades, structure improvements, and new road markings.

MainStreet Libertyville's Twilight 5K

Hit the road with MainStreet Libertyville on Sunday, September 4th at its 15th Annual Twilight 5K! Runners will trek 3.12 miles through downtown Libertyville as local residents cheer them on. Each registrant receives a chip-timed bib, an athletic t-shirt, and entry to the pre-race expo and post-race party.

Sign Up for Canlan's Youth Basketball League

Dribble your way into fall with Canlan's Youth Baskeball League! The league is an instructional and recreation-based program for youth ages 5 to 14. Sportsmanship and instruction are the focus in a safe and encouraging environment.

U of I Extension Fall Compost Event

SWALCO, University of Illinois Extension, and the Master Gardeners of Lake County will be offering free compost for Lake County residents on Friday, September 30th. BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket) and collect up to 10 gallons of compost per household from 11 am to 3 pm at University of Illinois Extension at the College of Lake County, 100 US 45 in Grayslake.

Senior Center Wisconsin Tour Trip

Explore Wisconsin with the Libertyville Senior Center on September 29th! Venture through Ten Chimney's Estate, a world-class house museum and national resource for arts education. Enjoy lunch in a dining car from the East Troy Railroad Museum to Elegant Farmer, creators of the famous apple pies baked in a paper bag.

$100 includes lunch, transportation, and museum entrance. Bus will leave at 9:30 am and return around 5:30 pm. To register, contact Jennifer West at civiccenterlib@sbcglobal.net or 847-247-7659. Please note that payment must be made prior to registration confirmation.

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, IL (SWALCO) is hosting a Household Chemical Waste disposal event on Saturday, August 27th. HCW includes oil-based paints/varnishes, cleaning products, garden chemicals, and medications. Appointments are required; event is at the Gurnee facility at 1311 N. Estes Street.
