2022 Community Bike RideJoin the Libertyville Bicycle Advisory Commission for its annual Community Bike Ride! This fun, family-friendly bike ride has the option of a 2.5 mile loop or a 5 mile loop with smart cycling activities for kids of all ages. Meet the Libertyville Police Department Bike Unit and School Resource Officer, win giveaways, and meet your neighbors in the great outdoors!

Performance Art in the ParkThe Libertyville Arts Commission invites you to its first Performance Art in the Park! Join us from 3 pm to 5 pm on Saturday, September 10th in Cook Park for an afternoon of art and entertainment. Learn the craft of balloon art, paint a Libertyville kindness rock, and visit with the Libertyville Police Department and Fire Department. BYOB (Bring Your Own Blanket) for performances by School of Rock, Talent Forum, and Improv Playhouse! Make arts and crafts with members of the Cook Memorial Library, Libertyville Recreation, and the Libertyville Arts Commission and take home a memory of the fun!

MainStreet Libertyville's Twilight 5KHit the road with MainStreet Libertyville on Sunday, September 4th at its 15th Annual Twilight 5K! Runners will trek 3.12 miles through downtown Libertyville as local residents cheer them on. Each registrant receives a chip-timed bib, an athletic t-shirt, and entry to the pre-race expo and post-race party.

The Village is hosting a fall series of virtual small group listening sessions for Libertyville businesses on September 13th and September 14th. The goal of the sessions is to inform the Village about business experiences, challenges, and successes.

Libertyville Historical Society Lakeside Cemetery TourThe Libertyville Historical Society and Lakeside Cemetery Association invite you to their Lakeside Cemetery Walking Tour on Saturday, September 10th. Learn the stories of six Libertyville residents who left their mark on the town's history during this hour-long tour.

IDOT Milwaukee Ave. ResurfacingThe Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) began pavement resurfacing of Milwaukee Ave. on August 29th.
The project will cover the road between Church St. and Adler Park and should be completed by early November. The work also includes sidewalk accessibility upgrades, structure improvements, and new road markings. For details, click here.

Park Updates and AdditionsResidents should take note of the following park updates: - Riverside Park Tennis Court Closure: Resurfacing of the tennis courts at Riverside Park began Thursday, September 1st. If there is no rain or interruption, the project should take about a week to complete.
- SWALCO Clothing and Recycling Bin:
In partnership with SWALCO, Libertyville is proud to host its own clothing and textile recycling bin! An estimated 85% of all clothing and textiles end up in landfills with the average person throwing away 70 pounds of clothes a year. Grab the kids' old school clothes or the office wear remote work has deemed outdated and let SWALCO do the recycling for you!

Senior Center Cubs Game with Highland ParkThe Highland Park Senior Center invites members of the Libertyville Senior Center to join them for a Cubs game on Thursday, September 8th. Tickets have been discounted to $50 and include transportation. Bus departs at 11:30 am and returns around 5:30 pm.

EPA Announces Difficulties with HCW CollectionBecause of a fire at an Ohio facility, the Illinois EPA (IEPA) has temporarily suspended collection of household chemical waste (HCW). SWALCO is required to follow their example and has reduced HCW collection to once a month.
SWALCO can only accept the following materials: oil, antifreeze, and flammables (including oil-based paint and gasoline). For details, click here.
