Mike Pakosta Named Village's 10th Fire Chief

Acting Fire Chief Mike Pakosta was sworn in and formally appointed as the new Libertyville Fire Chief at the January 24, 2023 Village Board meeting. Chief Pakosta has been serving as Acting Fire Chief since July of 2022 following the retirement of Fire Chief Rich Carani. 

Chief Pakosta has been a member of the Libertyville Fire Department for 21 years. He began his career in Libertyville as a Firefighter in January 2002. He was promoted to the position of Lieutenant in May 2014 and Deputy Fire Chief in 2016. He has a bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine from Iowa State and a master’s degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University. Chief Pakosta has also served as the Fire Department’s Medical Officer, a diver on the dive team, a swift water technician, and a wildland firefighter. Mayor Johnson Proclaims February as Black History Month

In recognition of history and culture, Mayor Johnson has issued an official proclamation for the record regarding Black History Month. Started in 2022, this is part of an effort for continued recognition of heritage months in Libertyville.

Libertyville Recreation Daddy Daughter Dance

Dance the night away at the Libertyville Recreation Daddy Daughter Dance on Saturday, February 11th! Doors open at 6:30 pm at the Canlan Sports Complex, 1950 N. Hwy 45, for an evening of entertainment and fun from 7 pm to 9 pm.

MainStreet Libertyville Let's Wine About Winter

One of MainStreet Libertyville's most popular events is back for 2023! On Saturday, February 18th, stroll through downtown with Let's Wine About Winter and indulge in shopping and in-store wine tastings.

Adler Arts Center Youth Art Month Exhibition

Know a budding artist in grades K-12? The Adler Arts Center is now accepting submissions for its Youth Art Month Exhibition! The show is open to any and all students who would like to showcase their work and participation is free.

Senior Center Chicago Wolves Hockey Trip

Join the Libertyville Senior Center for a day game on February 15th! Bus leaves at 10 am and will return by 3 pm. Tickets are $30 and include game entry, a hot dog and soda, and transportation.

The Village is again recruiting for business recognition during 2023 heritage months. Features will be shared across Village social media and in the weekly e-News. There is no cost for this program.
