Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month: Business SpotlightAt the April 25th Village Board meeting, Mayor Johnson declared May 2023 as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in Libertyville. As part of the month, we're excited to feature several Asian American and Pacific Islander-owned businesses in the Village. 847 Running Company is a local running shoe store in downtown Libertyville. They provide expert gait analysis, a curated footwear selection, active-lifestyle apparel and accessories. Owners Nicole and Kal credit their successes to the hard work and achievement of their parents who immigrated from the Philippines and Japan, respectively. They are proud to carry that legacy through their work with runners, walkers, and high school athletes. At 847 Running Company, they encourage diverse people and ideas coming together through the love of sport. For more about 847 Running Company, check out their website here!

Updates to Village Mosquito Abatement ProgramAs warmer months approach, the Village is beginning to implement its mosquito abatement program. Beginning in summer of 2022, the Village of Libertyville switched to Clarke's EarthRight program. This program adds additional sustainable preventative measures with the intention of decreasing the amount of spray applications throughout the Village. No spray application was needed in 2022, in part because of lessened rain levels and potentially due to the increased effort towards larvicide/insecticide as part of the preemptive program of EarthRight. For more information, visit the Village's webpage here.
