Stormwater Utility Town Hall Meeting November 14

On Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. the Village will hold a Town Hall meeting to introduce the concept of how a stormwater utility fee would work in the Village. A stormwater utility fee is designed to fund the stormwater system as a utility to fund improvements and maintenance of the system.  The Village has made a limited number of stormwater improvements in past years; however, significant flooding in 2017 has highlighted the need to implement additional improvements. The Village adopted a Master Stormwater Management Plan on April 23, 2019 that contains approximately $45.5 million in identified flood reduction projects. Historically, the Village has funded stormwater improvements on a pay-as-you-go basis from General Fund dollars. Going forward, the Village desires to evaluate other more stable and sustainable revenue streams for funding stormwater infrastructure improvements and maintenance. Pumpkin Compost Event November 2nd 

The Libertyville Sustainability Commission, in partnership with SWALCO and Groot will host a one day pumpkin compost event on Saturday, November 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Adler Pool parking lot located at 1500 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Drop off your pumpkins, squashes, or gourds in a dumpster provided by Groot, located in the Adler Pool parking lot. All candles, yarn, plastic or other decorations/non-organic material must be removed. 

Historic Preservation Meeting on Theater Demolition Request

On October 28, 2019 the Historic Preservation Commission will continue their meeting on the request by the owner of the Libertyville Theater property to demolish the building. Because the Libertyville Theatre is located within a designated historic district, the demolition request must be reviewed by the Historic Preservation Commission, which will make a recommendation to the Village Board for a final decision. The meeting will be held at the Libertyville Civic Center located at 135 W. Church Street at 7:00 p.m. 

Village Board Votes to Prohibit the Sale of Recreational Cannabis

On October 22, 2019 the Village Board voted to accept the Plan Commission’s recommendation not to allow recreational cannabis businesses within the Village of Libertyville. An Ordinance was adopted and will be in effect on January 20, 2020. 

Halloween in Libertyville 

 Wear your costume and join us for Halloween family fun on Wednesday, October 30 from 5:30 p.m. -7:30 p.m. at the Libertyville Sports Complex. Trick or Treat on Main Street on Halloween, Thursday, October 31^st from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Village Trick or Treat hours are 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

Cram the Cruiser November 2nd  

The Libertyville Police Department, in partnership with Sunset Foods (1451 E. Peterson Rd.) invites you to “Cram the Cruiser” with non-perishable food donations on Saturday, November 2^nd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monetary donations (payable to the Libertyville Township Gift Fund) will also be accepted.  All donations benefit the Libertyville Township Food Pantry.  

Household Chemical Waste Collection Event November 2nd

SWALCO will host a one day only household chemical waste collection event for Lake County residents on Saturday, November 2 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Mundelein Metra Train Station located at 205 N. Archer Avenue. For information on accepted items click here.
